keeping secrets/ baring all
Do you keep your work a secret until you are 100% sure it is ready for the public to view? With all of the blogging that is done these days it seems that most are quite generous with their making/designing. I'm struggling with that as I finally take time to make a real line. In case you're just clicking in, I've been at this for some time but finally took it full-time a little over a year ago. I've been blessed with some too good to be true press which lead to more orders than I ever could have dreamed of. So now that I'm one year in and things are becoming steady and less overwhelming, I want to step it up, I don't want to be a one hit wonder. This year is important to me as a designer and maker. I need to present wares that are even more covet able. In so, I've been thinking about what I really want in my line, what shapes to use, which patterns stay and how to add new ones. I'm tweaking, refining and putting my heart into this. So on day 6 of this new year I'm totally scared of what 2008 holds, however, happy to be in this frightening place.

You create such beautiful pieces of art, Linda. I am confident that you will come up with more amazing designs in this new year.
If the work is really important to me, I keep it a secret. Other things that I'm just playing around with get a blog entry. The things close to my heart are harder to put out there.
Hi Caitlyn, thanks so much for your words of encouragement, I know it is all part of having a creative life, just sometimes it seems too competitive and it can get me.
Lisa, I'm with you on what to post, there is the issue of putting too much out there and someone can be overly inspired by your idea and then it's everywhere.
Or by the time you feel it is ready - people feel like they already know it... ah! the wonders of the nets!
Your future holds greatness... your talent & creativity guarantee it!
May the blessings fall from the sky for you!
All the best in 2008! You'll be great!
thanks carissa!
Just jump in - there is a great quote that says "If you don't feel like you are going to throw up you aren't taking enough risks" - wholesale is great, and it reaps many rewards. Your work looks great - good luck on a line, be kind to yourself, it has taken me years to create a line of products!
