preparations

I can feel the holidays. The Holiday Heap show is quickly approaching, just a few more days! Here is a peek at my new bottle vases, I just love them. I can picture them in groups of 3 on a shelf. I also have something very special cooling in the kiln right now and hope to share it by friday. So be sure to check back. I will also announce my blog giveaway on friday.

With so much to-do I took a few minutes to enjoy an inspiring interview with artist Camilla Engman on the blog sfgirlbybay there are so many inspiring pictures and Camilla's answer's are so honest.

Another site I spent some time on this morning was R. Wood, a pottery business in Athens Georgia. The site is lovely with photos of the studio and the making. So, now that I am fully inspired I am ready to tackle a very long to-do list!

Up too late! But I put a new logo on this blog : )
I designed and ordered new biz cards and postcards. Did more than I thought I could in the studio and now I need to sleep. Ahhh, it's hectic but all this work actually makes me feel good.

Thank you for all the orders this week, just about everything is on its way to its new home. Happy Nite!

firing!

Funny how time flies! I've been glazing non-stop for days now. My work table has been jam packed with pots, table lovelies and ornaments. A few of the ornaments are getting alot of love so I'll be sure to make more of them. Of course the Just Friends pattern is a favorite and the goldfish has been swimming off as well. A few people have asked what I meant by "a batch of ornaments" the batch pictured is 36 ornaments 12 of each design. So I guess 36! But that is a large batch that requires hours of glazing. And I have to say, I am very happy with my 2007 ornaments, I thought about this all summer and went back and forth over "holiday" styles or to format my designs into ornament shapes and I'm happy I choose this route.

It's quite late and I'm waiting for the kiln to shut off (so I can turn off the exhaust fan) I love this quiet time on a rainy sunday nite. It's my time to get a few thing done that I enjoy but have been putting off. A little sketching, knitting, tv, and blogging. Ah! happiness.

glazetastic

Faced with a long nite of glazing but wanting to curl up on the sofa to watch tv. Decisions!! Is anyone else loving Pushing Daisy's?? I think it just might be my new favorite show. I love the way it is filmed. Ok, back to glazing, but Project Runway starts tonite.
This is the current state of my main work table.

So Ornamental!

I must say, I've been having so much fun making ornaments. This series of 3 represents my 3 favorite designs. They are available for purchase on my website, at the Art Star Holiday Exhibition and Craftland. I will also have them at Holiday Heap and the Craftacular. I have bunches ready to ship, a batch I'm glazing tonite and another on my mind! A girl can only hope for so many sales! I'm also planning a little give away for you my dear blog readers so keep your eyes posted. And in other Ornament news! I signed up for this years Holiday Ornament Swap and can't believe the great talents I am swapping with. I will be sure to post pics of what I send and receive. Wowza! I just can't get over how fast 'tis the season is coming. Back to glazing for me!

making a mark

A celebration is going on in my little world. I have been working full-time on little flower for a full year! It feels good to have a year under my belt and I look forward to growing my little biz.

The picture is my potter's mark, I stamp each piece with my signature little flower. This is also how I came up with my business name. When I first ventured into clay I created this mark which is a cone flower and would dream of someday running Little Flower Designs. What a lovely thing to be able to say that now I do!

Studio! Things got a little out of control over the weekend so I didn't get to update my site yet so if you are waiting, it will be just one more day and then all the holiday ornaments will be available.
Happy Veterans Day!

ornamental sneak peek 2

#2! I'm loving this ornament, it is inspired by the catbird that frequented our bird feeder thru the summer. I changed up his colors for fun but the shape and expression (or expressionlessness) is all him. My packaging supplies will be picked up today so I'll be posting the ornaments sometime tomorrow. I also have one more to reveal, another for the aviary!

This week I have been throwing tea cups, mugs and vases - and still making ornaments. I've also been doing quite a bit of puppy chasing - we're having a rough Marley week - it happens! Today I found her pretending she wasn't chewing the sofa but the wet spot gave it away. Luckily it wasn't damaged, but dang!

Today I'm all about carving and etching all of the pots and starting in on some custom orders I received this week. I am loving the custom orders, it really mixes things up for me. I think I will take on custom orders until about the first week of December so please don't hesitate if you've been thinking about asking.

Do you need something to do tonite? Go see the Darjeeling Limited its sooooo good. And please suggest any good movies you've seen : )
Happy Weekend, I'll check in when I get the ornaments on the site.

sneak peek

What a beautiful day, Marley (the pup) and I went for a long walk this morning, what a refreshing way to jump start a monday. I got up early and I'm well into a really productive workday and it's not even 9am!!
Ok, so I did it, I created the Just Friends ornament - it will be on my site later this week, I'm waiting on my packaging supplies before I post this sweetie - and 2 additional designs that are sure to make any tree happy!
Studio & Biz News! I hit the panic button the other day, the holidays are here and I have so many this and that's to do and so much to make that I really need to stay focused. This is a good panic! I almost have the entire site re-stocked, including tea pots!! And the last batch came out especially good! I'll do a site sweep later this week to post what is ready to ship. And holiday shipping times. So, if you were thinking of ordering a teapot, now is a great time to get your order in : )
Have a great monday and a great week!
